Native Garden

at Washington Corrections Center

Tribal Sons is a Native American Hoop located at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, Washington. This Indigenous Circle is comprised of various members and descendants from Tribes across the nation. We promote wellness and rehabilitation of our people through healing with Indigenous ceremonies and traditions long held by our ancestors. We work with local tribes, HUY, the Sustainable Prison Project, Evergreen Community College and the Washington Department of Corrections.

Washington State Supreme Judges visit WCC Tribal Sons Native Garden

On May 21, 2025, Tribal Sons were honored to host Washington State Supreme Court Justices Raquel Montoya-Lewis (Isleta/Laguna) and Steven Gonzalez at the Native Garden at the Washington Corrections Center (WCC) in Shelton.

Justices Gonzalez and Montoya-Lewis stand with Ralph Dunuan and co-workers to understand the importance of growing their own medicinal plants for Indigenous ceremonies and how that. lessens the burdens for Indigenous families and communities.
